Setting a default owner assists a firm to streamline the allocation process of matters.
At the account-level, there is a setting that can be configured to set a default owner for your matters.
Once a user has been selected, this user will be set as the owner of any matter created via shareable link and when a matter is created using 'Create a matter' in the Dashboard.
This setting can only be configured by an Account Admin.
To set a default owner for your matters
- Click on Account > Settings > scroll down to the 'Matters' section and click to expand.
- Under 'Default owner' > select the user in your firm/practice that you wish to get allocated as the default owner to all new matters.
- Scroll down and hit 'Save'.
All new Matters created via shareable link will add this user as the default owner. This can be changed via the matter set-up.
All new Matters created via 'Create a matter' will have this user appear first in the Owner field. The owner can be changed manually when the matter is being created, or later, via matter set-up.
Note: It is important that your account admin sets the default owner as this will initially default to the first admin in your account user list.
