Matters are at the heart of the FamilyProperty platform, and can be created as either Lawyer Matters or Mediator Matters.
These Matters can be created in a couple of ways:
- Within FamilyProperty - see below for step by step instructions
- Via a Shareable Link
- Via the Smokeball integration
Creating a Matter within FamilyProperty
Login to FamilyProperty and click on the big '+ Create a matter' button at the top of the page.
Fill in the form, following these simple steps:
- Choose between creating a Lawyer Matter if you are representing one party, or a Mediator Matter if you are working with both parties.
- Fill in a file number if required. (This is useful to match to the record to your Practice Management System.)
- Enter in your client's full name and the other party's full name.
- Select whether the matter is:
-
- Property;
- Parenting or;
- Property and Parenting
-
- Select the Owner - this is the person that is responsible for managing a particular file.
- Select whether you'd like to start using the Questionnaire or the Dashboard.
-
- Questionnaire - you can choose to start it yourself or invite the client via email to complete selected sections of the Questionnaire. You can also choose to include additional 'Current Situation' sections such as Family Violence and Proceedings/Orders.
- Dashboard - information can be entered directly into the different sections of the Dashboard, including adding the Assets, Liabilities and Super to build up the Balance Sheet right away.
7. Hit Save. You will now see this Matter in your Matters Listing page. Simply click on it to open it up!
