Setting a Matter Owner provides you with the ability to allocate and identify who is responsible for a matter.
In addition, this gives users:
- Increased visibility over who is responsible for matters across the firm/organisation
- Ability to streamline the allocation process of new matters
- Ability to navigate and filter matters across all the firm/organisation users
- Control who receives important notifications
Owner settings
At an account-level, you can set a default owner for all matters - this includes matters created via shareable link or those created using the 'Create a matter' option.
See: "Account-level settings - Setting a default owner"
At a matter level, the owner can be changed manually when the matter is being created, or later, via matter set-up.
Note: It is important that your account admin sets the default owner as this will initially default to the first admin in your account user list.
Matter notification settings
You can also control who receives matter notifications to ensure that the right people receive relevant notifications. You can choose between whether the owner will receive the notifications only or all users who have admin/user access to a matter. All new Matters will send notifications based on the selection above. However, notifications can also be changed for each individual matter at the matter level.
See: "Account-level settings - Control who receives matter notifications"
Note: If no option has been selected, all new matters will default to the Owner only getting the notifications.
Matter List View
You can sort and filter your matter list view by Owner. Your selection will be remembered the next time you login to FamilyProperty.
See: "Navigating your Matter List View"
Note: We will be updating this feature in the future to include management reports and adding matter owner details into documents and court forms.
