FamilyProperty is widely known for helping manage property matters, however it can equally be used for parenting only matters.
The questionnaire can be used to to gather detailed information on each child, as well as the family's current situation in terms of where they're at in the process, are there any current or previous proceedings, agreements or orders, whether family violence is a factor and also how they're coping.
Set-up a Parenting only matter:
1. Click on '+Create a matter' button and choose if it's a lawyer or mediator matter. Enter your client's name (or the name of both party's);
2. Select matter type as 'Parenting only';
3. Choose whether you wish to start with the Questionnaire or Dashboard. If using the Questionnaire, consider whether you would like to include some or all of the Current situation sections and if yes, tick this box. Note: these sections can be excluded from the questionnaire and entered later through the dashboard if preferred.
4. Save the matter and then open the matter from your matter list to start entering the information OR invite the client to complete the Questionnaire as per below.

5. Tick the box 'Yes, invite my client....' and enter their email address. The questionnaire for Parenting only matters will include the following sections, however you can de-select any sections to exclude them:
- The four (4) general sections - Personal details; Relationship; Children and; Living arrangements.
- If you ticked the 'Current situation' box, it will also include the four(4) sections of 'Where you're at; Proceedings and Orders; Family Violence and; How you and your ex-partner are coping.
- One Parenting Arrangements sections that covers detailed information for each child relevant to the matter
6. Once you click 'Save', an email invitation will automatically be sent to the client or parties.
When the client signs-up and logs in to complete the questionnaire, only the parenting related sections as chosen by you will appear in the left-hand view:
Q. What does the Parenting section of the Questionnaire include?
It starts with 3 general questions to understand the housing arrangements, who looks after the children if your client is not home as well as an overview of the work arrangements.
Then, it goes into detailed questions for each child listed in the children section of the questionnaire and includes:
- Details on living arrangements
- Medical, behavioural or mental health conditions
- Schooling
- How they're managing the current arrangements
- Have they experienced any family violence or are there any child protection reports etc
- Any other relevant information
