Matters generally live within a single FamilyProperty Account, however, there are cases where you may want to sync a Matter from your FamilyProperty Account to an external FamilyProperty Account.
This is especially handy when working with Mediators!
Mediation Syncing allows you to sync Matter data from your Law Firm's FamilyProperty Account over to a Mediation Firm's FamilyProperty Account. (And vice versa.)
This is helpful if a Client has already submitted the Questionnaire to their Lawyer/s, but the Mediator/s are now asking for the same data, OR - if any information is updated during mediation - allows for changes to be synced back to the Lawyer's FP Matter.
To enable Mediation Syncing:
Step 1:
The Mediation Firm will need to open their FamilyProperty Account and generate a unique code for the Lawyer as follows:
- Search for the Mediation Matter and launch to:
a. Party A if the Law Firm's client is listed as Party A in this Mediation Matter, OR
b. Party B if the Law Firm's client is listed as Party B in this Mediation Matter.
NOTE:
Mediation Matters can be linked to two Lawyer Matters - one for Party A, one for Party B.
- With the relevant Party open > expand the left sidebar.
- Click on More > Options > Mediation Sync.
- This will give you a unique code - share this code with the Lawyer for this party.
Step 2:
The Law Firm will need to open their FamilyProperty Account and use this unique code to link their Lawyer Matter to the Mediator's Matter:
- Open the Lawyer Matter for this client.
- Expand the left hand menu > More > Options > click on Mediation Sync.
- Paste the unique code given to you by the Mediator > Validate.
This Law Firm's Lawyer Matter is now linked to the Mediation Firm's Mediation Matter!
Step 3:
Once linked, the Law Firm can push data from their Lawyer Matter over to the Mediation Firm's Mediation Matter as follows:
- Open the Lawyer Matter for this client.
- Expand the left hand menu > More > Options > click on Mediation Sync again.
- Select what Matter data to push over to the Mediation Matter > Push to Mediator.
- You will see a pop up dialogue asking you to confirm this > click OK.
Step 4:
The Mediation Firm will need to review whether or not they wish to accept this data as follows:
- Search for the Mediation Matter and launch to:
a. Party A if the Law Firm's client is listed as Party A in this Mediation Matter.
b. Party B if the Law Firm's client is listed as Party B in this Mediation Matter.
- You will see a pop dialogue asking if you wish to receive information from the Lawyer's Matter.
- Click Yes - Import to import this data into your Mediation Matter, OR
Click No if you do not wish to import this data into your Mediation Matter.
NOTE:
The Mediation Firm can also push data from their Mediation Matter over to the Law Firm's Lawyer Matter, following Step 3 above.
Doing so allows for the Law Firm to proceed with Step 4 instead.
